SOS Pets of Ouachita saw the need for affordable spay/neuter surgeries in Northeast Louisiana, to reduce the number of unwanted litter and intake at the shelter. In 2025, we began funding FREE spay/neuter surgeries, with minimal out-of-pocket costs at our participating veterinary clinics in Monroe & West Monroe. 🐶🐱

- Owned pets in northeast Louisiana are eligible (priority to Ouachita Parish).
- Foster/rescued pets leaving the state are not eligible.
- Multiple pets per home are allowed.
- Feral/colony cats considered case-by-case.
- Do not call the vet — our team will coordinate appointments.
- Allow 1–2 months for our response.
- Do not submit the same pet multiple times — duplicates will be deleted.
- Same-day cancellations may result in removal from the program.
- Surgery cost: 100% covered.
- You pay for any additional required or optional services.
- Funded by SOS Pets of Ouachita.
- No public funds or shelter construction funds are used.
- Program ends when funds are depleted.

Q – Is my pet eligible?
A – Owned pets in Northeast Louisiana are eligible. Foster pets leaving the state are NOT eligible.
Q – How much will it cost me?
A – Surgery is 100% covered. Vaccines, flea treatment, or special conditions may cost around $50/pet.
Q – How do I sign up?
A – Use the link provided or the Sign-Up button on our Facebook page.
Q – How long before I hear from you?
A – You will receive a TEXT MESSAGE when you reach the top of the list. Wait time is 3–4 weeks.
Q – I have more than one pet. How many can I sign up?
A – Multiple pets are allowed, but limits may be applied depending on demand.
Q – What if I need to reschedule?
A – With notice, rescheduling is possible. No-shows become ineligible.
Q – Can I use a vet closer to my home?
A – No. Only participating clinics may be used.
Q – Can you fix stray or feral cats?
Possibly. We are NOT a TNR program. If you trap them and pay out-of-pocket fees per cat, we will try to assist.
